Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Ergün Özgür graduated from the Public Administration Department (M.E.T.U., Ankara) in 1988. She holds two Master’s degrees, one in Banking in 1992 (Marmara University, Istanbul) as well as one in Global Politics and International Relations in 2007 (Bahçeşehir University, Instanbul). She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior (Business Administration) in 2011 (Marmara University). Her dissertation title is “The Intervening Role of Work Values Between the Personal Values and Work Engagement (Cross-cultural Research: Abkhazia - Turkey)”.
Dr. Ergün Özgür has taught courses at Cyprus International University, Nicosia (2012-2015). Some of her offered courses included “the European Union’s Mediterranean policy”, “current world events”, “the Caucasus in the post-cold war era”, “culture and leadership” and “conflict management and organizational behavior”. Dr. Özgür received a post-doc fellowship from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tübitak) from October 2015 to September 2016. She completed a research project on Muslim immigrants from Turkey at the Institut de sciences politiques Louvain – Europe (ISPOLE), Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium (UCL), which was entitled “Host Country’s Adaptation-Integration Policies and the Values of Immigrants (Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey)”. She currently holds a visiting professorship at UCL until August 31st, 2017.

From November 2016 to July 2017 Dr. Ergün Özgür was fellow at the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study in the Humanities “Law as Culture”.

Research Interests

Dr. Özgür’s research interests center on ‘culture, gender, identity, immigration, integration, multiculturalism and area studies’ (the Caucasus, Europe and the Middle East).

Research Project

Integration of minorities from Turkey and  the Multicultural Policy Implementations in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands

Dr. Özgur will research the “Integration of minorities from Turkey and  the Multicultural Policy Implementations in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.” This cross-cultural research project will be done with non-Muslim immigrants (Assyrian, Armenian, Greek and Jewish) from Turkey in these three European countries, all of which have different styles of implementing multicultural policy. A qualitative research methodology will be used by conducting in-depth interviews.
