Review of the 14th Volume of the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study’s Publication Series Law as Culture (edited by Werner Gephart)

A review of the publication The Dynamics of International Law in a Globalised World. Cosmopolitan Values, Constructive Consent and Diversity of Legal Cultures by Prof. Dr. DDr. h.c Matthias Herdegen, Director of the Institute for Public Law as well as of the Institute for Public International Law at the University of Bonn and current Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study “Law as Culture”, has been published by Dr. Michael Fuchs in the January 2018 Edition (Issue 1) of DÖV (Die Öffentliche Verwaltung – English:“Public Administration”), a highly relevant journal in the field of public law. In particular, the review points out the tremendous scientific significance of the interdisciplinary concept of “public law of globalization” developed by Herdegen. Additionally, Fuchs emphasizes the importance of the approach “law as culture” pursued by the Käte Hamburger Center, which represents per se the “key to understanding law in times of advancing globalization of normative orders”.

A complimentary sample of the publication with a preface by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Werner Gephart (Founding Director of the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study “Law as Culture”) can be found here:
